Antietam Creek Paddle - Devil's Backbone State Park to Mouth

Jerry and I met up at my house and came up with a plan to paddle the Antietam Creek.   We were packed up and on the road by 9am and on the water around 10am.

Our put in was just below the bridge at Devils Backbone State Park.     Dam construction is finishing up but the park remains closed.
Canoes at the Put In
We had beautiful sky and temperatures and good levels that provided lots of nice riffles.   Along the way we saw deer, geese, herons, and kingfishers.
My Canoe Tied Up at Our Lunch Stop
We stopped for lunch and a break at a cow pasture along the way.

Civil War Site - Burnside Bride
With such nice levels, we paddled down past Burnside Bridge Road. This section had nice scenery and good riffles at the road bridge in Antietam.

We took out at the aqueduct at the mouth of the creek.  We carried up the bank and had a short portage to the car.   After we loaded up, got Jerry's Jeep, we came back to my house for some Mexican food.

A great day!!
